John Altus, of Philadelphia, PA, died at age 82 on March 24, 1999. Mr. Altus was born in Philadelphia on April 9, 1916. He grew up in the Overbrook section of the city and graduated from Overbrook High and Temple University's School of Pharmacy. After working as a Pharmacist he opened his own drugstore in Philadelphia, working alongside his wife, Mildred Glider Altus, a former teacher, whom he married in 1942. The store, located at 5300 Magnolia Street was known as the "Magnolia Pharmacy."Mr. Altus is survived by his wife, Mildred, two daughters, Joanne (Howard) Gurmankin and Marlene (Irving) Goldfarb, four grandchildren, Caren, Andrea, David, and Rebecca, and several nieces and nephews.
